Frequently Asked Questions

Fair questions deserve straight answers, so here are the ones we hear most — about booking, getting in the door with a walker, caregivers staying, home visits, payment, and what an appointment here actually feels like.

A little context makes the answers make sense. This salon is built specifically for older adults: appointments run long on purpose, the whole floor is step-free with parking directly at the door, the shampoo bowl accommodates wheelchairs, and quiet, dementia-friendly hours are part of the regular schedule — not an exception we make. Most of our clients come from Sun City Lincoln Hills, Twelve Bridges, and the older neighborhoods of Lincoln, with a healthy contingent driving up Highway 65 from Rocklin and Roseville. Many others never come in at all: our in-home service brings cuts, sets, color, and nail care to houses and assisted living apartments across the area, including Sheridan.

If your question is about what things cost, the short version is that every price is a published range — cuts from $25, sets from $30, perms from $75 — and your exact number is confirmed before any service begins. The full list lives on our pricing page, and the phone gets you a realistic quote in two minutes.

And if your question is not answered below — something particular about your mother’s memory care situation, a product allergy, a wheelchair with unusual dimensions, a wedding three Saturdays out — please just call. The odds are excellent that we have handled it before, and the certainty is absolute that we will not make it awkward. A person answers during salon hours, and if we are elbow-deep in a shampoo, leave a message — we return every call the same day. Asking questions is not a bother here. It is the front door to the whole relationship.

How do I book an appointment?

Call us. We'll match the time to your energy and your ride situation — mornings if you fade after lunch, quiet hours if noise wears on you. Booking for a parent? We'll arrange the whole thing with you directly, no need for them to be on the phone.

How far in advance should I book?

A few days usually does it for cuts and sets; a week or more is smart for perms, color, and in-home visits. Standing clients never think about it — their slot recurs automatically, which is the arrangement we recommend most.

Can I get in the door with a walker or wheelchair?

Easily. Parking is directly at the door, there are no steps anywhere, and the floor plan is flat and wide with grab bars where they help. The shampoo bowl is wheelchair-accessible, so every service can happen without leaving your own chair.

Will someone help me transfer from my wheelchair to the salon chair?

Yes, whenever you want the help — and we skip it entirely when you don't. Tell us your preference once and it's remembered. Staying in your own wheelchair for the full service is always an option.

Can my caregiver or family member stay during my appointment?

The whole time, welcome as can be. They can ask questions, learn the styling routine, or just keep you company. We'll write down what we did and what we used whenever that's useful for the care binder.

Do you offer dementia-friendly appointments?

Yes. Quiet hours with fewer people and less noise, the same routine in the same order every visit, plain explanations before each step, and zero pressure on hard days. If today isn't working, we reschedule cheerfully — it happens, and we plan for it.

Do you make home visits?

Every week, across Lincoln, Sun City Lincoln Hills, Twelve Bridges, Sheridan, Rocklin, and Roseville. Haircuts, shampoo and sets, roller sets, many color services, and nail care all travel. It's the regular price plus a $25–$40 travel fee, quoted when you book.

What's parking like?

Directly at the door — the genuine article, not 'nearby.' From car to chair is a short, flat, step-free walk, manageable with a walker, wheelchair, or cane.

How do I pay, and can my family handle it from out of town?

Cash, check, or card at the salon. If a son or daughter manages finances remotely, one phone call sets up payment with them directly — one of the most common arrangements we make.

I wear hearing aids. Will I be able to follow what's happening?

Yes, because we work at it: we face you when we speak, talk clearly without shouting, and never give instructions to the back of your head. Under the dryer, we agree on hand signals or check in visually. A written summary of your service is yours for the asking.

I have sensitive skin and strong smells bother me. Can you accommodate that?

Tell us when you book. We keep gentler, lower-fragrance products on hand, choose low-ammonia color formulas for sensitive scalps, and can test a product on a small area first. Reactions you've had in the past are exactly the kind of thing we want to know.

How long do appointments take?

Longer than most salons, on purpose. Cuts run about an hour, shampoo and sets around an hour and a quarter, perms two to two and a half hours with breaks built in. We book so nobody is ever hurried — that's the core promise of the place.

What if my ride is late or falls through?

Your appointment survives. We coordinate with senior transport services on scheduling, wait without drama when a ride runs behind, and reschedule kindly when a day collapses entirely. Transportation trouble is a fact of life, not an offense.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Yourself, and anything that helps us understand your hair: a photo from a good hair day, the name of your old color formula if you know it, and a list of sensitivities or medications that affect your hair or skin if that applies. A caregiver or daughter with good hair intel is welcome too.

How often should I come in?

Depends on the service: weekly for sets, every four to six weeks for cuts and root color, every three to four months for perms, every eight to twelve weeks for gray blending. We'll recommend an honest schedule — never a padded one — and standing slots make it automatic.

Do you cut men's hair?

Absolutely — men's senior cuts run $25–$40, with beard, brow, ear, and neck cleanups handled in the same sitting. Plenty of couples book back-to-back appointments and make one trip of it.

What if I need to cancel?

Call when you can and we'll rebook you, no penalty and no guilt. Our clients' calendars are full of medical appointments that move — we build the schedule expecting it.
